Summary: The successful candidate will work with the Ecohydrology Group led by Dr. Yanlan Liu at the Ohio State University (https://go.osu.edu/ecohydrology). Liu’s group uses process-based models, field and remote sensing data, statistics, and machine learning to address how plant-water interactions affect ecosystem functions and natural resources sustainability. This recruitment targes at the following specific directions:
• Plant ecophysiological responses and feedback to droughts
• Vegetation demographic shifts in Arctic-Boreal regions under climate change
• Vegetation recovery after fire and drought disturbances
• Model-data fusion of satellite observations with Earth system models
Qualifications: Applicants should have a Ph.D. or expect to receive a Ph.D. by the start date in environmental science, environmental engineering, earth science, hydrology, forestry, geophysics, statistics, computer science, or a closely related field. Strong programming skills (e.g., Python, R, Matlab, C/C++, Fortran in the Linux environment) and experience in big data analytics are required. Research experience in at least one of the following is highly preferred: land surface modeling, hydrological modeling, dynamic vegetation modeling, and plant hydraulics.
