The Department of Forest Ecosystems & Society at Oregon State University invites applications for a full-time (1.0FTE) Research Associate (postdoctoral) in regional modeling of forest ecosystem response to climate change and management. The person will develop, test and apply the Community Land Model (CLM) to improve prediction of climate-related stress, forest die-back, and effects of future climate and land management options on carbon uptake across the western US. The Research Associate is part of a diverse team of modelers on the project from Oregon State University, U Idaho, Oxford University, and Hadley Met Office. The position requires a Ph.D. in earth system science, ecophysiology, or related discipline, and a working knowledge of FORTRAN90 and a land system model or similar complex models. Minimum qualifications include a demonstrated ability to publish peer-reviewed papers, effective oral communication skills, and to work well in a collaborative team environment. We prefer someone with an understanding of physiological sensitivity of tree species to drought and heat extremes.
