We are looking for a highly motivated researcher, with a history of research in the areas of Ecology, Phenology and Remote Sensing (land surface and near-surface phenology) and the ability to work collaboratively. This is a postdoc position to work at the São Paulo State University’s Institute of Biosciences (IB-UNESP) in Rio Claro, Brazil in the project: The impact of climate variability and weather extremes on plant phenology and its implications on biodiversity, associated to the new Center for Research in Biodiversity Dynamics and Climate Change.
Candidates must present a doctorate in Ecology or related areas (e.g. Remote Sensing, Plant Biology, Conservation, etc), obtained in the last 7 years. The candidate must have skills in developing scientific proposals, fluent communication and writing in English and research experience proven by publications. Requirements include ability to organize and analyze large volumes of data, availability for fieldwork, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students. Experience with image processing (phenocameras, satellite), time series analysis, and proficiency in programming languages (R, Python) and artificial intelligence are highly desirable.
The position is open to candidates of any nationality. The duration of the FAPESP scholarship is 24 months and the value is R$ 9,047.40 monthly and includes a Technical Reserve equivalent to 10% of the annual total to meet unforeseen expenses related to the research. Researchers from outside São Paulo/Brazil may be eligible for travel/installation assistance.
