FLUXNET-ECN Workshop on Integrating Flux Data for Land Surface Modeling
August 6 - August 8
The FLUXNET Early Career Network (FLUXNET-ECN) is excited to announce “Bridging the Gap: Flux Data Meets Land Surface Models”, a three-day in-person workshop August 6-8th, 2025 focused on integrating flux data for validating and parameterizing land surface models. Designed for early-career scientists, this workshop will provide essential tools and knowledge to effectively use eddy covariance (EC) data in ecosystem modeling while fostering collaboration between the flux and modeling communities.
The workshop will cover the basics of EC, flux data processing, land surface modeling, and validation of model simulations. Participants will gain hands-on experience with tools such as REddyProc for flux gap-filling and partitioning, and ES3M Land Model (ELM) for ecosystem modeling and validation. Attendees will also be introduced to the FLUXNET Data System Initiative, the next generation of global, open, and accessible FLUXNET data.
If you’re an early-career scientist working with flux data or land surface modeling, this workshop is a great opportunity to expand your skill set, connect with experts, and grow within the flux and modeling communities!
Event to be held at the Residence Inn Berkeley, in Berkeley, California, USA.
